Doctor Fate has been a DC
character since the 1940s, when he was introduced in More Fun Comics #55.
Although the appearance he presents to the world has remained the same, a number
of people have lived behind his mask. The newest of these is a young boy named
Eric, who was artificially aged by the Lord of Order to take on the role of Dr.
Fate. But Dr. Fate was always meant to be two people, and it was only when the
soul of Eric’s stepmother, Linda, was added to his that they formed the first
true Dr. Fate.
These two people can join together to become a sorcerous force
for order in the continuing war against chaos. This leads to a strange dilemma:
a man with the soul of a boy becomes joined, literally body and soul, with a
woman who was once his stepmother, and is now more of a soulmate. The strange
tension of this relationship notwithstanding, Dr. Fate has a job to do, saving
the world from all manner of supernatural perils. ComicBase™ 7.0.

Doctor Clark Savage Jr. is one of the most famous characters
from 1930s pulp fiction. Raised by his father to be the perfect man, Savage has
talents ranging from performing microsurgery to stopping terrorists. He is aided
in his adventures by a cast of colorful operatives who are themselves masters of
various disciplines.
In the 1988
Doc Savage Mini-Series, DC sent Savage on a
cross-time chase after Nazi scientist Heinz Wessel. Emerging in the present day,
he finds that although he has maintained his youth, his operatives are now old
men. Moreover, Savage discovers he is now a grandfather, with Clark Savage IV
showing every sign of following in his illustrious footsteps. - ComicBase™ 7.0.

Dr. Stephen Strange was first seen in Strange Tales
#110. An arrogant surgeon who cared only for money, he was laid low by an auto
accident which robbed him of the use of his hands. Although he searched for
years for a cure, his efforts came to naught. In desperation, he journeyed to
India in search of "the Ancient One," a sorcerer whose powers might be able to
help him.
Although he started as a skeptic,
Doctor Strange studied under the Ancient One
for years, learning his magicks, and eventually becoming himself a Master of the
Mystic Arts. The rest, as they say, is history. - ComicBase™ 7.0

| This title was the first of three from Epic which formed "The Shadowline
Saga." (The other two are Power Line and
St. George.) The overarching premise is that
of a race of beings who evolved alongside humans, albeit a great deal better.
Still, mankind bred in greater numbers and the other race was forced to go into
hiding—to become "Shadow Dwellers." They still live among us, but secretly,
shaping mankind’s destiny to their own ends. Doctor Zero is the most powerful member of the
Shadow Dwellers and has chosen to make his presence known in a spectacular way.
He first launches, then stops a missile attack on a summit meeting of the
world’s leaders. As a result, he appears to all to be a "real life super-hero."
Only Doctor Zero’s motives are not nearly so pure. - ComicBase™ 7.0. |
